Day 1 Salt Lake City, Utah-Willameette, Oregon

Morning in Salt Lake City leaving Antelope Island
The first day was a short drive from the airport to Antelope Island. By the time we got there it was already dark and we met up with the people who drove out. A group of us decided to see if we did float in the Great Salt Lake. Besides the brutally cold water and the stinging salt, the myth is true, you can float very easily on the water. We spent 14 hours in the cars and ended our trip in Willammeette Oregon. We were suppose to find our sites in a remote campground, but being the roads were far from perfect and it was dark we ended up just setting up camp on the side of the "road". (Just another example of what will happen in the trip, expect nothing that you are expecting. Learn to adapt to the changes and stay positive.)

Things to note:
  • Be ready to be in a car for a while, be ready to see a lot so a handy camera will be good to have.
  • When you are given a time limit at rest stops make sure that you are back before they are over, it makes the traveling easier for you, Tait, and the teachers assistant.
  • Be able to role with change.
  • Prepare for fresh mountain air and amazing views.

The following morning we packed up the vans to head over to Portland Oregon.
